*Bonus Episode! Taking off the Know-it-all Mask
What are the masks we hide behind?
In his book, The Mask of Masculinity, author Lewis Howes highlights several of the masks men tend to hide behind, 1 of them being the Know-it-all mask, or the "tendency or need to fill the void with the sound of your own voice."
In this solo episode, Ryan reflects on the know-it-all mask, how it's manifested in his own life, the detriments of this mask, and the positive outcomes of shedding this mask and embracing his authentic self.
The pressures to wear this mask range from insecurities, fears, traumas, and pride.
What are the detriments to hiding behind the know-it-all mask?
- living unauthentic lives
- being called out & embarrassed by others
- falling for inferior or false information
- cheating ourselves out of new knowledge and success
- experiencing and enjoying deep relationships
- finding ourselves in dangerous or precarious situations... Just ask George Costanza about the time he pretended to be a marine biologist and found himself face to blowhole with a whale: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHRucRyLCms
